A word from the Lord
(Esther 6:1) On that night the King could not sleep, so he ordered that the book of records be brought in and read to him.
(Daniel 6:18) Then the king returned to his palace and spent the night without eating and without entertainment, And he could not sleep.
In both biblical recordings, a child of God was facing severe consequence which was to end in death, approved and authorized by the king. Their situation was grave, but the night before the calamity the king could not sleep. The king’s heart is in the hand of the Lord and He turns it wherever He desires it (Proverbs 21:1).
In the book of Esther, Mordecai, a righteous man, was to be hanged on the gallows in the morning simply because the enemy, Haman, desired his death and ultimately the death of all Jews. Esther the Queen, and niece to Mordecai was in fasting and prayer along with her maids. That night, the King of all Kings heard the cry of His children and started to turn the heart of the king in the direction He wanted it. King Ahasuerus, under total control by the power of the Spirit of God, requested that the record of his reign be read to him. Mordecai’s good deeds came up. Still under subjection of the Higher Power, he asked what recognition was given to Mordecai. When he heard that Mordecai was not recognized for saving his life, he immediately arranged for justice. Mordecai’s life was spared and he received a royal robe, the king’s horse and a crest on his head and was led through the city. As for Haman, he was hanged from the gallows he had prepared for Mordecai. Let every soul be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God. (Romans 13:1)
Daniel was thrown into the lion’s den by his enemies because he opened his window and prayed three times per day against the decree set by King Darius. A stone was placed over the lion’s den and sealed by the King with his own signet. The law of the Medes and Persian cannot be repealed and cannot be altered. The King returned to his palace… but that night, he enjoyed no entertainment, no food, and he could not sleep (Daniel 6:18). His sleep went from him. That same night, The King of Kings intercepted the plans and turned the heart of the king, in the direction He wanted it. In the morning after a sleepless night the king ran to the den and shouted for Daniel. Daniel was untouched, by the lions. ‘My God sent His angels and shut the mouths of the lions. They have not hurt me because I was found blameless before Him’ (Daniel 6:22). Then the king ordered Daniel to be lifted out of the den and there was no wound found on him. Then the king, called for those who plotted against Daniel and their children and their wives and cast them into the den of lions. The lions overpowered them and broke their bones in pieces and devoured them.
A new decree was signed by King Darius, I make a decree that in every dominion of my kingdom, men must tremble and fear before the God of Daniel (Daniel 6:26).
Both historical facts here are very similar in the unfolding of a plot to kill a just person. Our God is a God of justice. The plot was escalated to the highest level involving the king, both were final, sealed and signed, by the highest authority in the land, a signed contract. But the night before…the Lord allowed a tormenting spirit to keep them awake. The day before the crucifixion, after the sentencing of Jesus, the wife of Pontius Pilate, had a restless vision and suffered much in her dream that day (Matthew 27:19).
Our King, the King of all Kings, the Highest Court of Justice, Jesus our Advocate, the One who represents us in the High Courts, Lord of Hosts, who neither slumbers nor sleeps. He takes away sleep from the enemy, torments him, and deprives him of rest until justice is served. He sends His angels and destroys our enemies and delivers us out of the paws of the lion. Then He raises us up to sit in heavenly places.
The enemy may have gone to the highest authority to take you down, but misery is his meat until you are totally vindicated. No food, no entertainment and no sleep until the righteous is delivered. Your good deeds have come as a remembrance in the high courts.
The battle is not yours, it is the Lord's. The King’s heart is in the hand of the Lord, as the rivers of water, He turns it wherever He wishes (Proverbs 21:1). You will come out of this with no hurt, no scars neither the smell of smoke. Let all writings and schemes of the adversary be burned by the fire of the Lamb in Jesus name. Righteousness and justice are the foundation of your throne, Oh Lord, mercy and truth go before your face (Psalm 89:14). Send forth your arrows Oh Lord, and vanquish your foes. I release the sword of the Lord against the powers of darkness in Jesus name.
You are chosen, anointed and appointed by Christ Jesus to be fruitful and that your fruit will remain, in Jesus name (John 15:16). No weapon formed against you shall prosper in Jesus name (Isaiah 54:17). You are complete in Him who is the head of all principality and power (Colossians 2:10). Amen. I have seen the wicked in great power, And spreading himself like a native green tree. Yet he passed away, and behold, he was no more; Indeed I sought him, but he could not be found (Psalm 37:35-36).
